Ford Ranger line-up gains 4X4 XLT Double Cab Chassis

A 4×4 XLT Double Cab Chassis variant will join Ford’s Ranger line-up from December 2020. Ford says the variant is the most content-rich, feature packed Ranger Cab Chassis in Australia to date, with options including the first pearlescent colour to be offered on Ranger. According to Ford, the Alabaster White paintwork brings a warm, rich finish to the 4×4 XLT Cab Chassis’ exterior as an alternative to the no-cost option Arctic White, which remains available across the Ranger line-up.

The 4×4 XLT Double Cab Chassis comes with a five-star ANCAP safety rating, with standard equipment including AEB with Pedestrian Detection, SYNC 3 with Emergency Assist as well as FordPass Connect embedded modem, best-in-class towing, water wading and payload capabilities.

Also included is Ranger’s switchable on-the-fly four-wheel drive system, 17-inch alloy wheels and dual-zone climate control. A high-resolution full-colour 8.0-inch touchscreen display works in conjunction with steering-wheel mounted controls for voice-activated features, including access to DAB+ audio features, with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone compatibility as standard. It also shows the built-in sat-nav with ‘breadcrumbs’ feature, enabling an off-road route to be mapped for safe return, or later revisited.

Options include leather-accented seating, adaptive cruise control with steering-wheel buttons, and black 18-inch alloy wheels for a more distinctive look.

Touring and adventure capability is enhanced with a choice of powertrains. The latest-generation Bi-Turbo engine, introduced on the Ford Performance Ranger Raptor, produces 157kW/500Nm and is fitted with the specifically tuned, new generation 10-speed automatic. Ford says the 10-speed transmission includes a lock-out feature to hold specific gears for ease when towing, giving the 4×4 XLT Double Cab Chassis a best-in-class towing capacity of 3,500kg. In addition to the highly capable towing, the Bi-Turbo 10-speed combination provides improved fuel efficiency.

Ranger 4×4 XLT Double Cab Chassis customers can also choose the 3.2L, five-cylinder common rail turbodiesel, available in six-speed manual and six-speed automatic.

In addition to a five-year, unlimited kilometre full factory warranty, every Ranger is eligible for the Ford Service Benefits programme at participating Ford dealerships. With 15,000km/12-month service intervals, A and B log-book services for the first four years/60,000km are set at a maximum of $299 per service.

Ford Service Benefits also bring Ranger owners a Service Loan Car, Auto Club Membership including Roadside Assistance, and sat-nav map updates.

“Customers looking for Ranger’s high safety and equipment levels who want to add their own customised canopies or personalised tray set-up can now do so with far more ease,” said Andrew Birkic, President and CEO, Ford Australia and New Zealand. “Owners have told us that they want to save time and money with a ready-to-go, high-spec Ranger Cab Chassis that they can purchase straight off the showroom floor, and the 4×4 XLT Double Cab Chassis is here for these customers, be they tradespeople, adventurers or explorers.”

The Ford Ranger 4×4 XLT Double Cab Chassis will be available from December 2020.
