Melbourne BMW and MINI Garage to open new dealership as sales boom
Melbourne BMW and MINI Garage has begun the new year with strong momentum following a double-digit percentage upsurge in new vehicle registrations in 2021.
The dealership recorded 1,303 new BMW vehicle registrations for the year, up 37.6 per cent on 2020, while MINI registrations, at 254 units, increased by 7.5 per cent across the year.
December brought a 45.6 per cent increase for both brands, underlining a successful finish to the year for the business.
Melbourne BMW and MINI Garage achieved these figures as it advances the build of an all-new $25 million new dealership, which will replace its existing facility on Kings Way.
The new building will be the first metropolitan dealer in the country – and one of the first in the world as part of a global pilot program – to adopt the new global BMW Group corporate identity and is set to open in mid-2022.
Daniel Odman, Melbourne BMW and MINI Garage Dealer Principal, said the positive finish to 2021 set the foundations for a prosperous 2022, when business operations will be consolidated in the impressive new Kings Way dealership.
“We are proud and delighted to achieve such impressive growth in 2021, which is a direct reflection of both the fantastic efforts by our entire team during challenging market conditions and the support of our very valued customers.
“We now look forward to 2022 and the opening of our new dealership, which will mark not only a major turning point in design and luxury appointments but also in the experience we offer our valued customers.
“Every detail has been considered to further elevate our offering in recognition of both the changing needs and preferences of individuals but also those of a rapidly evolving retail landscape and automotive market. This includes full integration of our digital services, including our new configurators and BMW Shop, which perfectly complement – and build upon – what we offer in-person at the dealership.
“We look forward to welcoming guests to our new facility and propelling the BMW Group brands forward in a year when we see the launch of new electric models to add to our expanding portfolio,” Odman added.
Alongside the leading-edge design and customer-centric aspects, the new Melbourne BMW and MINI Garage incorporates multiple sustainable and electromobility elements, including solar panels, DC charging infrastructure, internal green walls and use of recycled materials in the construction.
In addition, the new facility will be built out closer to the roadway to include a covered area for new, demonstrators and pre-owned vehicles, replacing the previous open-air forecourt exposure to the elements in its original iteration.
