Formula SAE-A 2021 will be held at Winton Motor Raceway in Benalla, Victoria on 10-13 February 2022 as a physical event, with the COVID-19 related postponement deemed better than a December 2021 virtual event similar to that held in 2020.
FSAE-A will return to the usual December timing for the 2022 event.
SAE-A Chairman and CEO, Adrian Feeney, said the decision was ultimately the only one that made sense for everyone involved.
“It was clear that interstate teams could not attend a physical event this December, but there was a strong desire for a physical rather than virtual event if at all possible,” said Feeny. “Once the teams had looked at Winton’s availability around February-March, and considered their university calendars, the 10-13 February timing emerged as a clear winner.
“Even then, not all teams will be able to attend, but we believe that as many as possible will be there and that will make a good competition of real benefit to the students.”
A planned highlight will be driverless cars from Monash University, University of Queensland and Swinburne University of Technology, running in non-scored dynamic events.
