Electric MOKE to launch in the northern summer
MOKE International’s first deliveries of the new all-electric MOKE, manufactured in the UK, will be ready for the northern summer. Cars will be delivered from June through MOKE’s official UK distributor, Hendy Group, heralding a highly anticipated return to the road for this much-loved British motoring icon. The first vehicle will be officially handed over to customers in France around the same time.
According to MOKE International, major new partnerships will bring the MOKE experience to locations that perfectly reflect the car’s unique character. For guests at Beaverbrook, a quintessentially English country house estate, MOKE’s quiet drivetrain makes it ideal for savouring the peaceful countryside and secluded lanes of the Surrey Hills, in the south of England.
On the Côte d’Azur, MOKE and local partners will open the first official experience centre, Casa MOKE in Saint-Tropez, building towards its vision to become the world’s most loved beach lifestyle brand. International clients of luxury real-estate company Bo-House and Tardieu Immobilier will have access to an exclusive monthly subscription package, allowing them to enjoy driving an electric MOKE while in residence, without the commitment of ownership.
MOKE International said the vehicle’s powertrain offers enhanced performance and effortless driveability. It has a typical range of around 120km at 80km/h and a “rapid charge” time of four hours from a mains charger.
The new MOKE is available in one of five colours on the standard model: Wave Blue, Sunlight Yellow, Sunset Orange, Scuba Blue and Granite Grey.
“MOKE is all about country roads, beach excursions, the summer breeze in your hair and enjoying the journey, rather than hurrying from A to B,” said Commercial Director, MOKE International, Robin Kennedy. “We’ve taken the original Mini Moke, created by Sir Alec Issigonis, and reimagined it for today’s world – and tomorrow’s – as a fully electric vehicle.
“Our team has been working relentlessly for three years to engineer and manufacture a worthy, sustainable successor with the latest technologies. Made in Britain, the electric MOKE is now ready to inspire and delight a new generation.”
