Rare Bob Jane Holden Torana L34 for auction

A rare SL/R 5000 L34 Torana will be auctioned this weekend, with bidding already open and currently standing at $205,000.

Lloyd’s Auctions said the 1974 Holden is one of six specially ordered by Bob Jane Southern Motors in the colour Sebring Orange with the car still showing in original condition and 2,161 kilometres on the odometer. The car is number 152 out of 263 L34 models produced and has been verified as a genuine car verified by ICAARS.

“This is a very special L34 Torana and extremely rare, a fantastic opportunity for a Holden collector or enthusiast to own a piece of Holden history,” said Lee Hames, Chief Operations Officer for Lloyds Auctions. “As we have seen over the last few months due to the closure of Holden manufacturing in Australia, people are looking to preserve the history and story of Holden by collecting and cherishing these vehicles [and] we are seeing their values increase with broken records across the nation.”

According to Lloyd’s, the car was converted to race specification with a very strong Ian Tait built 1979 308 engine and also comes with the original 1974 L34 engine. The original seats are also included.

The Torana is one of more than 160 vehicles to go to auction this weekend in a live event happening in Lloyds new facility in Sydney.

“The classic car market is stronger than ever, particularly Holdens and that’s why we have recently expanded into a larger facility in Sydney where this Torana, along with many others, will go under the hammer this weekend,” said Hames.

The auction can also be seen live online via the Lloyds website or Facebook page.
